Can you believe it?! November is here! We've got some time to kill before the deliciousness and wonderful family time that accompanies Thanksgiving—so, take a look at what fun, inexpensive and sometimes free activities are going on around town! Here’s our top picks of what to enjoy in Austin and beyond this November!   

October 26 – November 4: Austin Beer Week

Austin Beer Week is partnered with the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, a nonprofit organization supporting Texas craft brewers. Taste craft beers in a unique way with nationally recognized chefs and much more.

October 1 – November 25:
 Texas Renaissance Festival

Experience the enchanted forest with hundreds of different performances showcased daily. The Texas Renaissance Festival is the most acclaimed renaissance themed park in the United States.

November 2 – November 11: Wurstfest
Downtown New Braunfels
The beautiful and quaint New Braunfels hosts its annual sausage and beer fest—Wurstfest! The 10 day festival celebrates the German and Bavarian culture with nothing but FUN. Enjoy excellent food, music carnival rides and all the German and Texas beer your heart desires.

November 3 - 4: Texas Monthly BBQ Festival 
The Long Center for the Performing Arts 
Be sure your chops and stomach are prepared for Texas Monthly’s top 50 Best BBQ Joints in Texas! Right here in Austin is the delicious feast accompanied by live music and drinks. Chill on the lawn with sweet treats, a brewski or a cocktail in hand and take a turn at interactive games with sponsors! Some of the featured BBQ joints include Franklin Barbecue, La Barbecue, Micklethwait Craft Meats, Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew, Terry Black’s Barbecue, Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ and much more.

November 4: Run for the Water 5K 
Keller Williams presents this 5K or 10K run in support of the Gazelle Foundation. Each registration ensures clean water to one person in Burundi for the remainder of his or her life. Breakfast is included.

November 10: The Great Pumpkin Run
Jersey Barnyard - La Grange
Enjoy a trail run 5K through the Jersey Barnyard farm. This scenic run through traverse meadows and cleared woods is a beautiful distraction through the finish line. Celebrate with cool gear—a race day shirt and zip-up race day hoodie and a 2018 finisher's medal—and top it off with tasty apple cider and a small pumpkin from the patch. 

November 11: Veterans Day Observance
Lake Travis Performing Arts Center
The Standing Military Committee in cooperation with the Lake Travis Independent School District, the City of Lakeway, members of the Lohmann’s Ford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Lakeway Heritage Commission welcome all community members to the annual observance of Veterans Day in the Performing Arts Center at Lake Travis High School. This year’s observance will honor the 100th year anniversary of the end of World War I on November 11, 1918. There will also be a guest speaker.

November 13-18: Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience
Paramount Theater
Back to the theatre by popular demand! Potted Potter takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books (and a real-life game of Quidditch) into 70 hilarious minutes. Even if you don’t know the difference between a Horcrux and a Hufflepuff, the world’s only Harry Potter parody will make you roar with laughter. This brilliant family entertainment is perfect for ages six to Dumbledore (who is very old indeed).

November 15 – November 18: A Christmas Affair

Don't miss The Junior League of Austin’s 43rd annual A Christmas Affair! The four-day holiday market takes you back in time to celebrate the season with a French flair. All funds raised provide important money and volunteer hours to programs such as Coats for Kids, FIT-Food In Tummies and over 30 local community nonprofits. This year they will feature more than 200 merchants from across the country that bring an expected 25,000 shoppers to Austin.

November 17: Gingerbread Fun Run
The Thinkery
Kick off the holiday season with a special Gingerbread Fun Run geared towards kids and families. Participants will try to go as fast as they can while chasing Thinkery’s festive Gingerbread Man. They can also enjoy seasonal hands-on activities for the entire family before and after the run in Mueller Park - and inside the museum, of course. Thinkery is teaming up with Variety – the Children’s Charity of Texas to ensure this Fun Run is open and accessible to kids of all abilities.

November 20: Austin Flea

The Flea features all local handmade items and vintage wares from some of Austin's most amazing and talented vendors. Find one-of-a-kind gifts for any occasion including jewelry, bath/body products, vintage, original artwork, paper goods, textiles, and more.

November 20: Pie Day

While national “Pi Day” is celebrated on March 15th every year, the GATeam likes to have our own celebration the week of Thanksgiving. We enjoy giving back to our clients and for this small give back we offer an option of pumpkin pie or apple pie to all current and former clients!

November 21: So You Think You Can Dance Live!
The Long Center for the Performing Arts 
So You Think You Can Dance Live! 2018 features the Top 10 contestants from Season 15, including Jensen Arnold, Hannahlei Cabanilla, Genessy Castillo, Evan DeBenedetto, Jay Jay Dixonbey, Magdelena Fialek, Darius Hickman, Chelsea Hough, Cole Mills, and Slavik Pustovoytov. They will be joined by other current and former contestants, among others. Fans can witness show-stopping routines from Season 15 as well as original pieces choreographed specifically for the tour.

November 22: ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot
The Long Center for the Performing Arts 
Join ThunderCloud Subs for their 28th ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot! This year there will be a 5-mile run (timed and untimed), 1-mile walk, Kids K live music, activities for the kids, post-run snacks, fundraising opportunities and prizes. ThunderCloud Subs donates all of the proceeds from the Turkey Trot directly to Caritas of Austin, a local non-profit whose mission is to prevent and end homelessness for people in Greater Austin. Last year they raised $325,000. 

November 22: Round Rock Turkey Trot
Dell Diamond 
Put your turkey in the oven and join the 2nd Annual Fleet Feet Round Rock Turkey Trot! Challenge your family, friends and co-workers to come out and run on the roads and trails through the scenic and historic Old Settlers Park. The race will feature an untimed 5-mile and 2-mile run/walk. There will be sponsor booths, refreshments and finishers medals. Proceeds will go to The Round Rock Serving Center, Operation Blue Santa and the Backpack Coalition. 

November 24: Austin Area Jazz Festival 
Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center 
Get ready to get down! Austin Area Jazz Festival is a celebration of music, culture, diversity and the arts that showcases a set of national and local jazz legends, food, shopping and more in East Austin.

November 24: Chuy's 30th Annual Parade
Texas State Capitol
Visitors are encouraged to bring lots of toys to donate at the 30th Annual Chuy’s “Children Giving to Children” Parade supporting Operation Blue Santa. The parade features giant inflatable balloons, festive floats, famous children’s characters, marching bands, classic cars and the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters.
