Looking for something to do with your kids in Austin? Our list will surely have an activity they will love, and you will enjoy joining them.


1. Let Loose at Zilker Park

Zilker Park is a great place to let the youngsters loose. You can set up a picnic in the park while the kids play catch or fly a kite! Visit the Zilker Botanical Garden, the Austin Nature & Science Center, and the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden and Museum for some time in the great outdoors.

2. Get Their Learn On at Thinkery

Little ones will have a blast at the Thinkery, Austin's hands-on children's museum. An interactive science and technology museum for kids in the Mueller neighborhood of East Austin. The Thinkery features hands-on displays and fun, educational activities for young visitors. Across the street, you can find a playground and  Mueller Lake.

3. Explore with Austin Duck Adventures

Austin Duck Adventures offers an amphibious vehicle tour of the city, including a ride down historic Sixth Street and past the Texas State Capitol, before splashing in Lake Austin.

4. Have a Mini Competition at Peter Pan Mini Golf

Kids and parents alike will enjoy the whimsical Peter Pan Mini Golf course, which has been a local site for the past seven decades. Both of the park's 18-hole mini golf courses are jam-packed with fun characters (including a gigantic T. rex and Peter Pan himself) and tricky hazards.

5. Climb High at Austin Bouldering Project

The Austin Bouldering Project, the world's largest bouldering gym, is a great place for youngsters to get a good workout while having fun. If a youngster can walk, they can scramble up a wall. There is no minimum age. It also has a cushioned floor in order to keep climbers safe if they fall.

6. Watch the Bats Soar into the Sky

When more than a million Mexican free-tailed bats soar into the night sky from beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge, you won't want to miss it. Get up close and personal with a colony of bats on Lady Bird Lake by watching them from the bridge, the Statesman Bat Observation Center, Lone Star Riverboat, or Capital Cruises.

7. Check out the Animals at Austin Zoo

See more than 300 animals, including big cats and other natural Texan species at the Austin Zoo. There are a large number of rescued animals at the zoo that are sure to excite the kiddos.

8. Splash Away at Kalahari Resort

Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Round Rock, Texas, offers an indoor waterpark and resort. An indoor/outdoor waterpark, world-class restaurants, live entertainment, and a thrilling indoor theme park are just some of the amazing amenities available.

9. Enjoy the Children-Centric Brunch at Cherrywood Coffeehouse on Sundays

Parents can sip mimosas while their children dance away to live music presented by beloved local children's entertainers at Cherrywood Coffeehouse on Sundays.

10. Enjoy a Free Musical at Zilker Hillside Theater

This year's free Summer Musical will be played beneath the stars at Zilker Hillside Theater from July through August, Thursdays through Sundays. Bring the kids and the blankets and enjoy the show.

11. Get a Break from the Heat at a Spring-Fed Pool

Austin's spring-fed swimming holes can be found right in the middle of the city. Zilker Park's Barton Springs Pool is always 68–70 degrees, and there are plenty of grassy areas for people to sprawl out.
